On the heels of their recently announced break-up, Wavorly has released a 22 song "lost album" called "Something Like Fiction;" a collection of unreleased songs that spans the entire career of the alternative rock band. Included are songs written prior to their signing in late 2006 to Flicker Records, songs written during the interim 4 year period between "Conquering the Fear of Flight" and "The EP," and the last few songs written by the band before the official disbanding in late 2012.
These songs give listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the full story of Wavorly, who's greatest chapter seemed to be a long period of silence in between official releases.
"This album shows the entire progression of our band," says Matt Lott, primary lyricist and bass player. "These are the songs that we never got to release properly, but always wanted to. They give a picture of how we developed from a local pop-punk from Mississippi called freshmen15 to the "alternative-pop" band that appeared on "The EP.""
None of the songs are produced, mixed, or mastered past the demo level, so some of the songs have a "raw" sound. In this rawness, however, the true heart of the band shines through in an unexpected way.
"There is no gloss, no produced "sheen" on these songs," says Lott. Dave Stovall, primary songwriter and vocalist of the band, adds: "These are rough drafts of songs that never were brought to a "show-room quality" level. That's why we've decided to give our fans such a great deal of content at a very low asking price."
Because of the amazing feedback given to the band after announcing their break-up, Wavorly decided a thank-you of epic proportions was in order. Available for purchase on wavorly.bandcamp.com, "Something Like Fiction is only $5 for the entire 22 track album, but fans are given the option to pay more if they choose to.
"Bandcamp is the perfect setting for this type of album," says Lott. "It allows us to give our fans a solid, affordable way to support us and allows us as a band to have a solid way to say thanks without having to charge too much for so many songs. It's just perfect," he says.
"We hope that all of our fans will head over to our bandcamp and pick up these songs. It's the best thank-you we can give to so many people that helped us along the way," says Stovall. "We will never forget all the amazing people we met and things we got to experience while we were on the road, and we just want everyone to know that through supporting us they not only allowed our music to be a part of their lives, but they touched our lives as well. We will be eternally grateful."
"Something Like Fiction," is currently exclusively available at http://wavorly.bandcamp.com/. Both "Conquering the Fear of Flight" (Flicker/Sony BMG) and "The EP," are available on Itunes, Amazon.mp3, and most major digital music outlets.
